Please let everyone know what type of garage cabinets you have and any plans for upgrading or replacing what you currently have.

Here are the types/brands that I have heard of, but I'd like to hear what the group thinks of each:

1) Slide-Lok
2) Baldhead
3) Lista
4) Craftsman
5) Home Depot (cheap-o cabinets)
6) Others

How about Gladiator workbenches and cabinets - anyone have experience with that product line?

Local apartment complex was remodeling. I bought all their old kitchen cabinets at $5 apiece - have more than I'll ever use. Some I left the doors on, some I tossed the doors. Here's just one photo:

That is a great idea - I've seen some folks remodel their kitchen and use the old cabinets in the garage.

You've done the same thing, but on a larger scale. Your ideas are a great inspiration to those who want to have a garage with a lot of features, but have to work within a realistic budget.

Everything I do in my garage is done with $$$'s in mind - I also do all my own work to save labor....my garage might not be as nice as some of the 'museums' I've seen; but I'm having fun with it!

I bought the most inexpensive wood cabinets I could find from Menard's. I painted the with American Accents furniture black, and painted the door inserts with Rust Oleum hammered silver paint. they cam out rela nice I think and I spent about half of what Gladiators cost.

Has anyone used the Sauder Hot Rod Garage series?

gliot1 - I redid a 48-inch upper kitchen cabinet for above my future bench in Rustoleum hammered black. The interior is gloss white. The doors are hammered silver. It turned out OK, but I need to redo the doors due to shading from the roller track. Must not have mixed it enough.
