I wired cat-5 cable out to my garage, I now have a computer connected which can get to the internet. This allows me to view this website for example, check other forums, buy parts, etc. I also have a music server in the house and can play any album I have on any computer on the local net. So I have music in the garage.

In addition to DISH network, here's a photo of my garage stereo system that's punching sounds out through Bose speakers:

My garage doubles as a practice area for my musician/car wrenching friends.
Sort of like a Peter Egan wannabee. I have a Marshall guitar amp and a pair of Yamaha PA speakers fed by an Adcom GFA5500. Mostly use my iPod for tunes, but I also have a 5disk changer for impromptu stuff.
I'm thinking of picking up a Roku SoundBridge so I can stream my iTunes into the garage over the wireless network. I neglected to run CAT5 when the house was built, so I have a PC full of tunes and no easy way to get at them.
Anyone have a Sonus controller? Looks nice, but a bit pricey at $1000.

Just finished putting together a Linksys wireless system in the house...now I can take my laptop out to the garage & still be on-line!

Anyone know Peter Egan? - we should tell him about this site! I love reading his articles in R&T about working out in the garage.

I have a standard stereo with (4) speakers. All of my sound equipment in the house is wired together so no matter where I am at I can have all the same music playing everywhere. Presently I have (22) music quality speakers patched through 4 seperate amplifiers. This is much easier to do than you think. Simple phone wire run to a common punch down block at a common distribution point. Run from the punch down block to each location to wall mount rca jacks. Connect one of the main sound systems low level line outs to the wall jacks. Connect the remote amplfiers low level line ins to the wall jacks. I have seen very expensive distribution "units" to do this, but if you have a number of amplifies in various rooms there is no need. An investment of under $100 will get you a complete in home system, garage included!
