Hi there, I just found the site and thought I would attept to post the progress of my 2 car garage I built over the past year to store 2 of my collector cars. Construction started April 15 2005, and I just hung the last picture on the wall yesterday, officially calling the project "complete", although we all know they are never truly done! I took pics all along the way, quite honestly because I wasn't sure if I would ever get it done... this was the first construction project I ever tackled, and wouldn't have been able to get it off the ground without the help of my dad, my uncle, and several close friends and relatives...Everything was done by us, with the only "professional" work being the removal of the old "sun porch" building that was there when I moved in, the digging of the footer, laying the block and pouring the concrete... everything above ground and all finish work was done by us. I'm pretty proud of my accomplishments, and finally have my "dream garage". The pictures should tell the story, but feel free to ask any questions, as I will be happy to try to answer them the best i can.. Hope you enjoy the picture show!

Nicely done.

I like the 60's themed decorations, which tie it all nicely together.

The cars aren't bad either...

Are those real Yenko's??

I've had the Camaro since I was 18 years old, built up from a basketcase with the help of my dad and younger brother. The Nova is one of 175 original Yenko Deuces produced in 1970. It was featured in the November 2005 issue of Musclecar Enthusiast magazine, along with some of my original Yenko memorabilia collection. All of the silk screened posters on the wall are original 1960's and early 70's pieces, originally used in Chevrolet dealership showrooms and service departments.

Is that floor the VGT Armstrong 1' squares?

The floor is Armstrong Excellon Vinyl Tile. The tiles are 1' each, but I doubled them up 2x2, using 4 tiles to create each square of the checkerboard pattern. Most checkered floors I have seen are done in a 1' x 1' pattern, and to me it looks too "busy" in anything but a one car garage. Its of course a matter of personal preference, but I think the bigger checkerboard pattern is less distracting to look at..in fact, if my garage was bigger I might have even considered going 3' x 3' with the black and white pattern.

Thanks, that's the tile I'm looking at - & I'm also thinking about going 3'x3'.

Joe,

One heck of a nice job on the garage... I like it more each time that I see it!

The vintage dealer posters are a great touch.

Love the floor too... Going out next week to get my tiles at HD or Lowes. Hopefully have the job done in a couple of weekends (I've got some additional floor prep on mine).

I'll post some photos once I get it completed.

Regards,

Stan Falenski
