I have 2 bare light bulbs for lighting in the ceiling of my garage. I have looked for auto themed light fixtures to replace the bare bulbs, but no luck so far. Has anyone run across any good looking ceiling light fixtures for a garage?

I started with one bare bulb (!) so I had an Electrician come out and add some outlets in the center of the rafter beams. I then hung two 4' Home Depot flourescent fixtures. I selected T8 bulbs, which seemed to be better than the regular ones.

At some point in the future I'm going to add two more 4' fixtures, but for the time being the setup I have works fine.

I also found this Tiffany style lamp on the same web site--it may be a bit frilly for a garage though.

Those are definately more attractive than flouresecent lights, but I think they would be more useful for accent lighting than general task lighting.

Perhaps a mix of those Corvette lamps and a couple of track lights would work?

You are right--probably a mix would work best. I do have a fluorescent shop light over my workbench. Just have to figure out the best combination and placement of lighting.

I am thinking of putting in lower wall side lighting next. When waxing or doing lower car work these are lights are the new hot ticket. I am looking at a nice flush mount flourescent that will fit between the studs nicely.

i went to HD and they had these 4' flor lights that were like the chrome running boards. What I liked about them is I was able to install right above the garage door opener motor and utilize the elec there and if I didn't need that much extra light I could just use the pull chain. I also installed a 8' then I have 2 of the 4' plus two extra 100w bulbs. I hat to turn on the garage lights and have everything on when i really don't need it but when I do it's there... Flor lights are the best cause they will show color as it really is...

What is the differance with the t-8 bulbs?
Thanks,

I think HD lights refers to Home Depot lights.

I have a suspended ceiling in my garage with (6) recessed tropfers.
